The Chubby Chernobyl is the most popular stonefly pattern on the market today, and with good reason. Few patterns can boast its combination of buoyancy, visibility, and effectiveness. It rides low just like a natural stone, but the long white wing stands out on the water like a headlight, so you'll always know where your fly is at. Dunk it in a liquid floatant or apply gel floatant to the wings and you'll be fishing all day with virtually no maintenance. It's a versatile pattern, too, doing a good job of mimicking hoppers and other terrestrials, as well as making a great summertime attractor.
