Located just two miles from our front door, Hebgen Lake offers some of the most exciting dry fly fishing around. Fishing Hebgen turns into an addiction as many of the local guides and fisherman can tell you. Fishing for big rising browns and rainbows, known locally as gulpers, in the 2-4lb range is one of our favorite August activities. While August is prime time for gulpers, we do have great fishing on Hebgen from ice-off in mid-May through September.
Dry fly fishing on Hebgen is weather dependent, and low winds are a must. Due to this factor, Hebgen trips are often combined with a short afternoon float or wade trip. Clients find themselves casting Tricos and Callibaetis to gulpers in the morning, and then probing the Madison or Gallatin with hoppers and ants in the afternoon. This is a great way to spend the day. Hebgen Lake trips are full day only and available anytime the gulpers are active. Trips include guide service, lunch, soft drinks, and transportation from Blue Ribbon Flies.
