The Missing Link, invented by Mike Mercer, is one of the most versatile dry flies we've ever used. Mike originally tied it to imitate a spent caddis, but it proved to be effective in a huge variety of situations. The halfway upright wing imitates caddis and mayflies equally well, and we've used smaller sizes to imitate midges in a pinch, too. Simply put, if you aren't sure what the fish are feeding on, a Missing Link is usually a pretty darn good place to start.
