Drew Mentzer has been fishing and guiding the waters of Yellowstone National Park and Southwest Montana since 1999. A transplant from the desert Southwest, Drew grew up fishing the small mountain trout streams of Arizona before making the journey to Montana. He began his fishing career in West Yellowstone at Bob Jacklin’s Fly Shop, where he spent 6 years honing his skills as an angler and guide. In 2005 Drew began guiding full-time for Blue Ribbon Flies. On any given day of the fishing season, he can be found teaching anglers on the waters of the Greater Yellowstone Area. Drew considers himself a “jack of all trades” fishing guide. He enjoys hiking anglers into the many backcountry streams of Yellowstone National Park, getting clients into quality trout from a drift boat on the Madison River, and throwing dry flies to “gulpers” on Hebgen Lake. What’s his preference? “Above all, fishing dry flies to large trout on the backcountry streams of the Greater Yellowstone Area.” During the winter months Drew host’s our many saltwater excursions to Southern Mexcio and Belize. Drew’s other passions include spending time with his family, St. Louis Cardinals baseball and chasing upland birds and waterfowl with his trusty bird-dog, Otto. Drew, his wife Megan and their son Oliver reside near West Yellowstone, Montana.
