Tom Cornell

Tommy grew up in Tonawanda, New York. As a kid he fished for trout, bass and perch with his Dad. In 1987, he bought a fly rod and hasn’t turned back since. In 1994, Tommy started guiding steelhead, salmon and lake-run brown trout on the tributaries of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. He guided for several years for the Oak Orchard Fly Shop before joining Blue Ribbon in 2003. Calm Tom has been helping beginners and experts improve their skills with BRF for over 10 years now. His wisdom and relaxed attitude are valuable attributes for teaching fly fishing. Tommy knows Yellowstone country as well as anyone. He loves guiding float trips on the Madison, Yellowstone, and Hebgen Lake. He’s also fond of the unique wade fishing in Yellowstone National Park. He’s thrilled when spring rolls around because that means spring road trips. A time when he can guide on the water that we seldom fish during the summer. When Tom finishes his season here, he heads home to New York to guide for steelhead from fall to spring. Tommy’s love for fishing has taken him all over the East and West. He has also spent time in Belize and other salt water hot spots. It’s a known fact that Tomcat sneaks over to the Railroad Ranch on some of his days off. Big trout and technical fishing are two of his favorite things in life. He also has a thirst to explore new water. When he’s not doing something fishing related he is on a never ending exploration to find the best buffalo wing west of the Mississippi.
